Happy Spring!

This month's issue of The Oprah Magazine caught my attention. It features a whole section on mothers and daughters talking about sexuality. Did any of you see it?

If you would like some books for your kids on the topic of sexuality, check out two books from today's guest, Dr Gail Saltz. One is for children going through puberty, and another one is for young kids who wonder where babies come from....

A few tidbits came across my desk this week. One was from someone who practices energy medicine. He helps people to understand and access their unconscious beliefs and rewrite the negative scripts into positive ones. We were talking about sexuality, and I asked him if he thought that all porn stars, strippers etc have underlying traumas driving their behavior. He said YES. He said the key is that when you muscle test them using the statement "When I am engaged in this profession, I respect myself," they go weak. The arm falls. They might think that what they are doing is embracing their sexuality, or that it is empowering, and yet what is truly beneath it is the opposite. This applies to other situations as well where people are making a choice that is not coming from honoring and loving themselves and others. It is an interesting experiment!

I've learned that sometimes the things we think we believe are not what we actually believe in some part of ourselves.

The other thing that was interesting this week, was when Dr. Gail Saltz and I talked about sexuality on the phone for this episode. She said that sexual confidence and promiscuity are not the same thing. We talked about the Samantha character from "Sex & The City" and also sports figure or celebrities who think that the more people they are with, the better they look. The outside message is I AM SOMEBODY. But underneath that, deep inside and maybe even unconsciously, there is the belief of I AM NOBODY.

Sexuality is a huge topic, and if I devoted this whole show weekly to it, we would only scratch the surface. This week on Zentertainment Talk Radio, we are hanging out with Dr Gail Saltz. I recently saw her on THE TODAY SHOW and knew I wanted to share her new book with you. It's especially for women, and it's called "The Ripple Effect, How Better Sex Can lead to a Better Life"

Dr. Saltz explains how women can approach their sexuality from the inside out and create a ripple effect that will change how they think, feel, and behave in every aspect of life. She asks readers to reflect on their own feelings and beliefs and ultimately guides them toward understanding the power of their own sexuality. This book is a road map to understanding and improving how women feel about sex and most importantly, about themselves.
